Hi, I’m Melia! I’m a recent graduate of Grand Valley State University, where I earned my degree in Journalism, Broadcasting and Digital Media with a minor in Advertising and Public Relations.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the chance to gain experience in a variety of communication roles. From interning with GVSU Athletics and WOODTV8, to working with the Grand Rapids Gold of the NBA G League (where I found my love for sports PR). Most recently, I completed a Communications Training Camp Internship with the Buffalo Bills and am currently a PR & Communications Associate with the Windy City Bulls.
I’ve always been drawn to the fast-paced, ever-changing world of sports and entertainment. I love telling stories, building connections, and helping organizations share their message in creative and meaningful ways.
I’m a hard worker who thrives under pressure. This is something I learned while juggling internships, classes, part-time work, and competing as a varsity sprinter on GVSU’s track and field team. I also stayed involved on campus through the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, PRSSA, and GrandPR, GVSU’s student-run integrated communications firm.
Now, I’m excited to keep growing and continue pursuing a career in sports PR and communications, a field that truly combines everything I love.
