Sports PR & Communicaions Professional | Writing, Media Relations & Digital Storytelling

Hi, I’m Melia!

For the 2025-26 season, I served as the PR & Communications Associate with the Windy City Bulls, where I’ve gained hands-on experience supporting communications efforts at the NBA G League level. In this role, I utilized HoopsOMG to produce the team’s media guide and game notes, drafted and distributed press releases for both basketball and brand initiatives, and created short-form social media content using the Adobe Creative Cloud. I also spearhead all media credential requests, and facilitated interviews with major outlets such as ESPN and Forbes. Additionally, I managed relationships with local, national, and international media including the Daily Herald, FOX Chicago, NBA Asia, and NBA platforms. In this role I have grown immensely as a communications professional.

Previously, I completed a Communications Training Camp Internship with the Buffalo Bills, further strengthening my experience at the professional sports level. I’m a 2025 graduate of Grand Valley State University, where I earned my degree in Journalism, Broadcasting and Digital Media with a minor in Advertising and Public Relations. During my time there, I gained experience with GVSU Athletics, WOODTV8, and the Grand Rapids Gold—where I first discovered my passion for sports PR.

I’ve always been drawn to the fast-paced, ever-changing world of sports and entertainment. I love telling stories, building connections, and helping organizations share their message in creative and meaningful ways.

I’m a hard worker who thrives under pressure, something I developed while balancing internships, classes, part-time work, and competing as a varsity sprinter on GVSU’s track and field team. I also stayed involved on campus through the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, PRSSA, and GrandPR, GVSU’s student-run integrated communications firm.

Now, I’m excited to continue growing and pursuing a career in sports communications, a field that truly combines everything I love.
